Most of us are unhappy with our hair. In our attempts to improve on Mother Nature, we dye and perm our hair, and use curling irons and flat irons to curl and straighten it. After that, we use hair sprays, pomades, gels, shampoos, conditioners and mousses. We do all of this in an effort to achieve the goal of beautiful, silky hair. And what do we get for our efforts? After all these treatments, our hair has become dull, dry, has splitting ends, and overall, is hard to manage.
We spent so much time and money. What went wrong?
Most likely, without knowing it, we were using harsh hair products that damaged our hair. Let's start with our shampoo. Since many of us use it every day, it is very important to choose a shampoo that is mild and does not contain harsh chemicals. Therefore, we must avoid shampoos that contain strong cleaning agents like Sodium Laureth Sulphate or - even worse - Sodium Lauryl Sulphate. Both of these detergents are often found in shampoos, but they are also used in dishwashing soaps, and are much too harsh to be used in hair care products. In fact, Sodium Lauryl Sulphate is also used in industry as a degreaser, and can penetrate the skin and accumulate in the body. This is definitely not an ingredient we want our personal care products to contain.
So why are harsh detergents like these found in so many hair products? The answer is simple: They are unbelievably cheap and uncomplicated to work with. Also, unlike mild cleaning agents, they can be thickened very easily, and most of us mistakenly believe that thick products are better and richer than thin ones.
Frequent use of shampoos containing strong detergents really affects our hair by drying it. And if your hair is oily, shampoos with harsh detergents will strip the hair of its natural fat, causing more sebum to be produced. Ironically, the result is that our hair becomes even more oily!
Because most of us have hair that has been damaged by harsh chemicals, to reverse this process, we must use really natural, mild hair products.
Shampoos from Gems & Herbs are all natural, and are great for color-treated hair, since the mild cleaning agent we use does not strip the color from the hair like shampoos with harsh detergent do. And thanks to large amounts of Panthenol (pro-vitamin B-5), our shampoos actually add volume to the hair. If you want to know how well our shampoo works, wash one half of your head with your favorite shampoo, and the other half with a shampoo from Gems & Herbs. When your hair dries you will see the difference. From then on, your favorite shampoo will be a shampoo from Gems & Herbs!
Gems & Herbs shampoos do not contain Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, or any other harsh detergents. And like all products from Gems & Herbs, they also do not contain any artificial fragrance -- only natural essential oils, that are beneficial for the hair.
Extremely damaged, dry hair with split ends needs extra special treatment, but you don't need to go to a spa to get it. Just try our Herbal Hot Oil Treatment -- 100% natural, without preservatives, and with large amounts of Vitamin E. The key ingredient is Jojoba Oil, a time-proven remedy for hair that has been used for centuries by Native Americans. Jojoba Oil contains a natural ultraviolet (UV) filter, and in addition to Vitamin E, is rich in vitamins A and F, as well as fatty acids. Gems & Herbs' Hot Oil Treatment also contains natural essential oils that actually promote hair growth. If you use this product on a regular basis, you'll actually experience the revival of even extremely damaged hair.
So, try the shampoos and hot oil treatment from Gems & Herbs. You'll see that beautiful hair really doesn't have to be only a dream.
